Struggling to over-come the vice

Posted in Group:

I'm 25, i've been smoking since middle school. i've been trying to quit many times. i've told my girlfriend that i quit, and well, i havent. i just went and got "the gum" and tomrrow morning i'm going to start. i was hoping there would be some kind of advice someone could give me. i know it's going to be hard, and tough. its going to be harder since i'm struggling with my relationship now, and i work alot in an area where we arent that busy, and seems all there is to do is smoke. so if there's someone out there that can help, with advice, or something, please...i'm open to anything at this point..
thanks.

There are sites that can send you daily reminders, helping you maintain your resolve, one site is smokefree.gov.

There are multiple tools to stay smoke free, gum, patches, therapy, etc., but the important thing is to quit mentally. In other words quitting has to be a mental decision to not pick up another cigarette, you have to do it for you, otherwise it will not work. Buy a lot of hard candy to keep your mouth busy and doing mentally challenging puzzles will keep you mind and hands busy. The important thing is to keep your idol time to a bare minimum.

Good luck on this path!
