Help me quit!

Posted in Group:

I have been smoking for about 13 years, and have wanted to quit for a while now, but considering I am pregnant, I now NEED to. I am having such a hard time since it is my stress outlet. I get soooo cranky and have withdrawals when I go more than a few hours without a cigarette. I have tried the e-cig and it helped a little bit but still couldnt quit completely. Any ideas? What helped other people?

There's a book by Allen Carr called 'Easy Way to Stop Smoking'. It will help tremendously! It will give you a completely different perspective on smoking. My daughter used it when she was pregnant and she managed to quit just using that.

Even if you choose another method, the concepts you learn about in his book will still be helpful.

A friend of mine used laser treatment and it worked for her. She hasn't smoked since she left her appointment over two years ago; however, like most methods, it works great for some and does nothing for others so I would only suggest it if you can afford the expense. It's also a safe method for pregnancy.

Maybe if you try these along with the e-cig, with luck you'll have success. If you meditate or use any form of relaxation forms, that may help control the stress and crankiness.

That's about all I can suggest. Keep believing in your ability to conquer this and all the best to you and your baby.

"Get between your kids and drugs any way you can" by Carroll O'Connor.

Addiction is not a disease; it's a demon trying to tear your child from your arms; hang on and don't let go of them.
